How is this data produced?

A stillbirth is a birth after 28 completed weeks or more of gestation without any sign of life during delivery. The data on stillbirths in Malaysia is tabulated based on information collected and reported by the Ministry of Health. The 'state' reported in this dataset is based on the place of usual residence of the mother, not the geographical location in which the baby was born. For example, a baby born in a hospital in Kedah to a family who resides in Perlis will be counted as a live birth for Perlis. For a deeper understanding of the methodology and associated definition, please refer to the Technical Notes.
