How is this data produced?

This dataset is produced based on ground-level surveillance coordinated by the Council for Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants, which is tasked with implementing and coordinating national security policies and programmes on the aspects of trafficking in persons and smuggling of migrants. Besides for operational purposes, this data is reported as part of Malaysia's monitoring of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), in line with the most recent SDG Global Indicator Framework.

The data is subject to revision in future updates.
